Best Wisconsin Restaurants

I decided to round up some of my favorite places to eat in Wisconsin for those looking for a weekend getaway or planning a vacation to the Dairyland. The majority of these have been my favorites for years, so yes, my personal opinion about what's best, but my opinions are backed by local/visitor reviews on various websites as well!

Best Pizza

Frankie's Pizza is hands down the best pizza I've ever had. I've been eating Frankie's my entire life and I have yet to find something comparable. The drive to the top of the state is 100% worth it. My favorite is the Pepperoni, Green Pepper, and Onion that I usually shared with my dad, but their Taco Pizza is something to definitely try - topped with Nacho Cheese Doritos - it's incredible! Check out their locations in Ashland and Hayward.

Best Breakfast

A trip to Door County is never complete without stopping at Scaturo's for breakfast and a stop at the bakery. Yes, they have a full lunch, pizza, and catering menu too, but their breakfast is so fantastic. My recommendation is the Father's Skillet and the Green and Gold Omelette, but you really can't go wrong with any choice! Don't forget to order your Door County Cherry Mimosa to complete your meal!

Best Atmosphere

Ok, so I might have a little bias on this one because this is where we live, but Clear Water Harbor is something everyone should experience at some point! Sure, the food is great and you don't want to miss out on their Friday Night Fish Fry, but the people flock to The Harbor for the atmosphere more than anything, which is evident in their four overflow parking lots. Whether you are eating inside, on the deck, or on your boat that you docked, you're sure to enjoy the weekend entertainment and company. You can also take a cruise on the Double Decker Authentic Sternwheeler: Chief Waupaca!

Best Mexican

I spent a lot of my childhood eating at Los Banditos. It seemed like it was our #1 choice when we'd go out to eat, and they even had buttered noodles (Cart Driver) for picky eaters like me. Thankfully, I grew out of that phase because now I'll eat everything on the menu. You HAVE to start with their CCQ (Queso Dip) and make sure to eat the warm tortilla in the bowl! Typically, I will order their Enchiladas, but I'll get the (giant) Chimichanga if I'm not worried about calories that day. But PLEASE, do NOT leave the restaurant without ordering their Sopapillas! They're the best dessert!

Best Ice Cream

Driving to Dykesville for ice cream and a snack (or dinner!) at Deprey's Frosty Tip is 100% recommended. This little drive-up used to be right on the main highway, but, after the road was redone, you have to take an exit to find it, but it's totally worth it! We used to stop here on our way up to Sturgeon Bay growing up, and now I love taking my kids for a cone twist cone. (But seriously, don't underestimate how good their food is either! I recommend the perch fish fry, burgers, and cheese curds!!)

Best Wisconsin Fish Fry

This is a tough one because every restaurant/bar is a little bit different and there are a lot of recommendations I have. BUT, if I had to pick my top favorite fish fry, it'd be Club Forest Bar in Plover. They pack out their bar/restaurant on Friday nights. Way back in our early dating days, my husband worked here and I LOVED their burger nights and pretty much their entire menu, but I would try to get off early on Fridays just to get their fish fry! 100% get the battered cod!
